DANGER ZONE - Hungry and 3 flapjacks at my front door
Jan 26, 2023I'm sure you know the drill. A little bit peckish and out of nowhere, a heaven sent, oat, syrup (peanut butter, chocolate!) and butter based saviour.
3 of them actually.
It was like Christmas (a bit less impactful with it only being 4 weeks ago but hey ho) as I opened the packaging to see 1,500 calories of deliciousness staring back at me.
I could feel the temptation rise up in me, like the extra double vodka you didn't need, and I could feel myself buckle mentally.
A few short weeks back this sort of thing was an all too common scenario for me.
1 - I'd be going well with my food
2 - Something would happen
3 - I'd not be going so well with my food
This is a pattern I see over and over with my clients. Sadly, often even the people who say or think they are doing well won't have their positivity reciprocated by their results.
A few lbs here or there that can reappear when something out of the ordinary happens.
Many people talk about changing habits but my issue with the focus on habits is how does this tie into these scenarios?
New habits like "I will move all food out of sight when I see it" does NOTHING to tackle how you feel about that food in the moment. As such we are often powerless to resist and give in.
Me and flapjacks go way back and the feelings in that moment felt so very real. Moving the food would do little to help on its own.
And being honest this is how I have coached for most of my life. Telling people to manage their environment and using mindset tactics that were sporadically successful but didn't help people change on a deeper level. So the next time *something* came up that was stronger, people would inevitably fold.
It's only recently that I've been witness (and partaker) to a more effective approach.
One that saw me reduce the feelings I felt after seeing the flapjack, put them away, forget about them quickly and then have the rice, veg and bolognese meal like I had planned.
I can help you to do this too (I'd say give you this gift but if you don't do the work, it won't happen. And it's not necessarily hard, difficult or time heavy but you aren't going to change the way you think without thinking.)
As you can imagine I'm chomping at the bit to bring this into the sustain coaching process and so the first trial of our new Mindset Training is set to launch. But I need people willing to test this.
If you want to be one of the lucky few able to access this before it's ingrained into the Sustain process (and charged for) then follow this link to gain access for free (until next Sunday - when it will be going back into the workshop for further refinement.)
